The dealer's hidden card will be revealed, they'll play their hand, and a winner will be declared.
If either you or the dealer has a "Blackjack" (an ace and a face card), the hand is immediately over. You can also "double down," which means to double your bet for one more card, or you can "split" two matching cards into separate hands.
Beat the dealer's total without going over 21. If your cards add up to more than 21, you bust and lose the hand immediately, regardless of what the dealer has.
You get two cards face-up. The dealer also gets two, but one stays hidden until the end. Your decisions are based on your total versus the one card you can see.
Hit to take another card and increase your total. Stand to keep what you have and end your turn. You can hit as many times as you want, but every card risks pushing you over 21.
An ace plus any ten-value card (10, J, Q, K) on your first two cards is a Blackjack. It pays 3:2 and the hand ends right there. If the dealer also has Blackjack, it's a push and your bet is returned.
Double your bet in exchange for exactly one more card. Your turn ends after that card. Best used when your first two cards total 10 or 11, where one more card has a good chance of landing you near 21.
If your first two cards match in rank, you can split them into two separate hands, each with its own bet. Each hand gets a second card and plays out on its own. Always split aces and eights. Never split tens or fives.
After you stand, the dealer flips the hidden card and plays by fixed rules: hit on 16 or below, stand on 17 or above. Whoever is closer to 21 without busting wins. If you tie, it's a push.
Knowing when to hit, stand, or double can have a dramatic impact on your bottom line. It takes time and practice to memorize the correct move in every situation, but fortunately, you can print out strategy sheets that tell you exactly what to do every time.
